ภาคแรก The Fast & the Furious เริ่มเรื่องราวของตำรวจหนึ่มในนาม ไบรอัน โอคอนเนอร์ ที่ทำงานร่วมกับ FBI ในการตามสืย แก๊งโจรปล้นรถบรรทุก โดยเขารับหน้าที่แฝงตัวเข้าไปกับชาวแก๊งรถซิ่ง เพื่อตามสืบข้อมูล โดยทางหน่วยงานสงสัยว่า น่าจะเป็นฝีมือของหัวหน้าแก๊งรถซิ่ง โดมินิค โทเร็ตโต้ หรือ ดอม
แต่ปรากฏว่าไบรอันไปตกหลุมชอบน้องสาวของดอม ที่ชื่อ “มีอา” ทำให้การปฏิบัติหน้าที่ถูกบังตา ส่วนแก๊งของดอม ที่มี วินซ์ , เล็ตตี้ ก็สงสัยว่า ไบรอันเป็นตำรวจอยู่เหมือนกัน
